Art and more specifically music has historically been a common method for people to express their personal beliefs and opinions. Now more than ever artists and musicians are capitalizing financially on their art. With the stakes being so high, because of the possibility of losing fans and or corporate sponsorship / business opportunities, should artists avoid social issues? Do they have a duty to use their platform for the betterment of humanity and speak out against social injustices?
